I am relatively new to the Booktrack team, and have been here just over a month as the art director.

0d875897a5d248beaaf2015a5b3db2a7-560x750The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn has always been a favorite book of mine, but I have to admit, I have never enjoyed reading it as much as I did when I recently read the booktrack. The soundtrack brought Huck’s adventures in the deep south of St. Petersburg Missouri to life in a way I hadn’t expected. It was engaging and took the story to a new, and much deeper experience. So much so, that it inspired my contribution to this edition of Booktrack Bakes.

When I think of the deep south, I think of delicious warm cornbread and bourbon. So I thought I would bring those two things together. I whipped up a batch of cornbread with a jalapeno kick and side of Bourbon-Honey Butter, inspired by non-other than Huck’s dad, Pap. It all turned out pretty well and I am happy to share the recipe with you below.
